Philanthropy

Tri Deltas are passionate about serving others.

We remain dedicated to three aspects of philanthropy: sisters helping sisters through Tri Delta’s Foundation, our commitment to changing the way the world treats and defeats childhood cancer through our work with local and regional children’s hospitals and pediatric cancer initiatives and through our national partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

A message from our director of philanthropy, Mackenzie

"Hi everyone! My name is Mackenzie Back, and I am the Director of Philanthropy for the Tri Delta chapter at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Since our partnership in 1999, we have dedicated our philanthropic fundraising efforts to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. From going through recruitment as a PNM my freshman year, I recognized St. Jude was more than just an organization we would support; it was a beacon of hope for children and families facing unimaginable challenges. I had the privilege of witnessing the profound impact of this support firsthand at the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, where I also visited the ‘Tri Delta Place’ housing facility. This experience deepened my admiration and commitment. Having the opportunity to witness first hand the incredible work being done at St. Jude solidifies our unwavering commitment. The unwavering dedication of the doctors, nurses, researchers, and staff is truly awe-inspiring. They tirelessly strive to find cures and provide exceptional care to children battling life-threatening illnesses. However, St. Jude’s impact extends beyond medical treatment. They also provide housing and food for families throughout their child’s treatment. As the Director of Philanthropy, organizing events and fundraisers has opened my eyes to the incredible strength and resilience of these children and their families. Their stories have touched my heart, teaching me the true value of lending a helping hand, regardless of my personal challenges. Surpassing our fundraising goal of $100k for the first time this past year, and being recognized on the news, reminded me that there is no greater honor than playing a part in helping a child become cancer-free and giving them the chance to embrace a future filled with joy and endless possibilities."
